Gynecology Collection
Description of the collection
The Gynecology collection currently comprises over 300 instruments dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, many of which were developed by Belgian doctors (Jean Palfijn).
History & development of the collection
171 items from the collection of gynecology-obstetrics instruments inherited from Professor René Lambotte have been digitized and can be accessed at DONum.
In December 2022, instruments from the private collection of Dr. Iwan Angenot were added to the collection.
The collection in the museum
This collection is not currently on display at the museum. The instruments are kept in reserve, where they await further study. In addition, the Maison de la Science is open to any opportunity to promote the collection.
