Mineralogy Collection
More than 300 specimens to discover, among the most remarkable from the collection of the Laboratory of Mineralogy and Crystallography of ULiège
Description of the collection
Since the creation of the Laboratory of Mineralogy and Crystallography of the University of Liège, professors and researchers have accumulated hundreds of mineralogical specimens. The pieces deposited and exhibited at the Maison de la Science are among the most beautiful and representative of this collection.
This partnership allows the Laboratory of Mineralogy and Crystallography to share its research and advances with the general public, and the Maison de la Science to illustrate in a spectacular way the application in nature of many scientific concepts related to mathematics, physics and chemistry.
History & development of the collection
The collaboration between the Maison de la Science and the Laboratory of Mineralogy and Crystallography dates back to the foundation of the museum in 1986. Since then, the specimens exhibited are regularly renewed so as to follow and illustrate the progress of research.
