Gynaecology collection
Description of the collection
The Gynaecology collection currently includes more than 300 instruments dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, among which several were developed by Belgian doctors (Jean Palfijn).
History & development of the collection
171 pieces of the collection of gynecology-obstetrics instruments inherited from Professor René Lambotte have been digitized and are accessible on DONum.
In December 2022, instruments from the private collection of Dr. Iwan Angenot were added to this collection.
The collection in the museum
This collection is not currently on display in the museum. The instruments are kept in reserve, where they await further study. However, the Maison de la Science keep an eye out for any opportunity that would allow their valorisation.
